Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Tokyo area.
Tokyo is a collection of 23 ku, or wards, comprising the area's center, one of the most contemporary and high-tech metropolitan areas on the planet, surrounded by 39 small towns, villages and Pacific islands, many of which look and function as they did in ancient times. Over 12 million people live in this greater Tokyo area which comprises over 1,300 square miles. At the center of Tokyo, the population density is over 20,000 people per square mile. It is the juxtaposition of ancient with state of the art that defines at once the fascination with this city of cities, and the dread of having to negotiate it as you search for venues of interest. Fortunately, the residents here are more than eager to assist, are very proud of their native land, and would love to show it to you. The twenty year old Tokyo Disney Resort, comprised of Disneyland Park and DisneySea Park, includes all of the familiar Disney themes and features, but also the innocent, friendly and fun-loving ambiance that characterizes Tokyo. There are many parks and gardens within Tokyo, which soften this megalopolis of concrete and steel. Mountain hiking, fishing and camping, sunbathing beaches both on the mainland and on Tokyo's islands, and hilly green pastureland also are a part of Tokyo, and only about an hour's drive from the city's center.
